Hello People,
My next post will consist of sort a lot. I will try to condense it down into a suitable size to be able to read, but no promises.
First, the language class. After almost breaking down and crying, I have officially accepted the challenge and I am trying my best to learn as much as I can. I spend a lot of time conjugating verbs and learning articles. That is actually rather difficult to do. In German, you have to learn the article. It can completely change the sentence. So in other words...it is either right or it isn't. So mostly for me...it isn't. Oh well. I actually did very well on the first test though. I got a 35.5 out of 40. Pretty good for learning for a week. Tomorrow, we are going to the capital of Hessen and learning about State Parliament. I am actually rather excited. Go Politics. In my language class, I am the youngest. I am also one of the few that are working on just a Bachelor's. The other people in my class are either working on Phd's, Masters, or their MDs. Yeah I am just a baby. The cool part though is that the teacher always asks how to say things in English. (She is not the best at English.) Got to love English as a mother tongue.
Enough with that. The week as been filled with fun and more fun. We have had many dinners. We went to Frankfurt. We basically have just done the classic college things. You know. COLLEGE.
Now the easy part:
Just add some pictures and talk about them. Things go a little more smooth in my mind.

There is a bridge in the south of town that has locks. The locks are for lovers. Supposedly it locks in the love. I wonder what happens if they break up? Does the lock fall off?? |
 |
I actually think it is a really cool idea!! |

This church was really cool. We all decided we wanted to go inside to get a better look. It was beautiful inside. Very Roman Catholic. It was so gorgeous. From the paintings to the sculptures to the organ. Every thing was magnificent. At first when we were inside, we were one of only a few people. It was amazing to reflect and sit in a church that had that much history. We sat down. As we sat down, we started to notice more and more people. I just thought it was people who where going to view the church. After two minutes of sitting, the organ started to play. The organ was the biggest one I have ever seen. It was so fluid and magical. You just sat and smiled. All of a sudden, the almost the entire church was filled. Once the Priest came out is when I knew we were about to sit through a Catholic Mass. To be honest it would have been my first Mass ever. It would have been fine, but it was in German. So not only do I not know a lot about Catholicism, I didn't even know what they were saying. We all started looking around for the nearest exit to escape. I wonder what the people thought when seven people just got up in the middle of the Priest's talking and left. I felt so awkward. Everyone was staring. I could feel God himself staring haha. We eventually made it out and went and ate Chinese. There is only one thing that a person can eat after getting up in the middle of mass and that is Chinese. Consider us forgiven. |
